The Challenge

Coastal Health Partners is a multi-provider internal medicine practice in Miami with 6 physicians, 3 nurse practitioners, and a CLIA-certified lab. When the practice's DEA registration expired without renewal, the lead physician discovered it only after attempting to prescribe a controlled substance for a patient. The practice had to immediately stop prescribing all Schedule II-V medications and refer patients elsewhere for 3 weeks while the renewal was processed. During a subsequent audit, the practice also discovered their medical waste permit had lapsed and their CLIA certificate was 45 days from expiration with no renewal filed.

The Solution

The practice administrator implemented PermitSentry to track every provider-level and facility-level credential. The platform now manages DEA registrations for all 9 prescribers, individual state medical licenses, the facility's CLIA certificate, medical waste permits, X-ray equipment registrations, and the practice's business licenses.
